Judoka Iosef (Soso) Palelashvili was born in Georgia in 1986 and immigrated to Israel six years ago.

His most recent win was a bronze medal in the under 73-kg competition at April’s European Championships in Russia.

The 25-year-old missed out on the Olympic Committee of Israel’s criteria for London but was added to the delegation thanks to reserved sports for up-and-coming athletes.
