Zohar Zemiro

Israeli marathon runner Zohar Zemiro ran the Amsterdam Marathon earlier this year in 2:14.28 – a personal record time and enough to qualify him for the upcoming Olympic Games.

Zemiro was born in Ethiopia and immigrated to Israel at the age of 10. At 35, he is one of the country’s veteran runners.

He was national champion in marathon running in 2010 and 2012, national champion in hill running in 2008, and a three-time running champion at the Maccabiah Games.

He was named Athlete of the Year in 2011 by the Israel Athletics Association.
